Great British Bake was the brainchild of Dave & Laura Betts to use our skills of Laura as a talented baker and Dave’s business background to address a profitable niche in the market. We established a catering, hospitality and food truck business to create British baked goods for a significant UK ex-pat community living in Canada. I was at the forefront of the introduction of Food Trucks in to SW Ontario, Canada. I had several interviews with live TV cameras on the truck and even had to present in front of the Council at a Kitchener City Council meeting. At their introduction, food trucks were seen as a threat to bricks and mortar restaurants and legislation was set up to prevent them succeeding. My fellow food truck owners and I challenged this concept and in fact demonstrated that Food Trucks bring vibrancy and energy to otherwise declining downtown areas.
